About TYP

TYP — The You Project — is a personal style system that replaces guesswork with structure. Instead of following trends or generic body-type advice, TYP starts with what makes you unique: your facial proportions, your natural coloring, and what you want your style to say about you.

The system is built on three inputs that combine into a complete picture of your personal style:

Natural Proportions

Your facial proportions — size and geometry — determine which silhouettes look most natural on you. Five proportion types (Star, Moon, Lightning, Sun, Cloud) each correspond to a distinct silhouette language.

Natural Coloring

Your natural coloring — temperature and contrast — guides which color palettes bring you to life. Four coloring types (Night, Day, Evening, Morning) each have a natural affinity for certain colors and combinations.

Core Identity

Your Core Identity is the psychological message your style communicates — who you appear to be before you speak. Determined by combining your proportions with your personal motivation, it drives the intent behind every outfit.

TYP identifies 10 Core Identities, each representing a distinct way style communicates who you are. No type is better than another — each is a valid expression of identity.

The system was designed by Sofya Vaynapel, a professional stylist who spent years developing the Total Type System methodology. Every type profile, trait score, and wardrobe recommendation comes from her research and client work.
